Biography

The evolution of Poor Boys Relief is easy; college idiots start band, friends come to watch said idiots play music, and it becomes a good time for everyone. PBR is based out of Grand Rapids, Michigan and is not your typical band project.  PBR played live shows from September 2008 until October of 2010 for all sorts of crowds; from family reunions, to the Common Ground & Summer Celebration Music Festivals, to Chicago, and of course Big Rapids. But when you leave college it's time to start making real decisions. At this point in the journey, PBR will not be playing live shows in the foreseeable future, but we will strive to bring you music that you can carry around with you. Please help support us and feedback is always appreciated.

Press

"It's one thing to let loose on a guitar; it's another thing entirely to have such a deep understanding of jam music to allow you to capture the spontaneity and liveliness of the genre with the security of written music. In every way, these guys blew me away."
- Amy Creyer, Chicago Jam Scene

"With a demo and two self-recorded full length albums, the band is working hard. The focus of each show PBR plays is to keep the crowd in high spirits and, mainly, to get people dancing."
- Brad Klosner, The Pioneer

"...a smooth blend of rock, folk, blues, and funk. Intertwining the sounds of acoustic and electric guitar with piano, organ, synthesizer and accordion, these poor boys have struck rich."
- Christa, REVUE West Michigan

"Poor Boys Relief has woven catchy, diverse modern rock tracks since forming in 2007."
- Anne Erickson, NOISE
